Energy is valuable and expensive. It is therefore very important to save on energy and to choose the optimum heat insulation. This can be guaranteed by VARIO-HAUS on account of the extremely well heat insulated walls or ceilings, the polar glazing of the windows and the wind-tight construction.
Hardly any producer of prefabricated houses has such a broad portfolio of wall construction as VARIO-HAUS. All walls fulfil the official requirements for low energy or passive houses and offer a broad field of applications.
 
Heat insulation
 
The heat insulation is carried out by means of glass wool, mineral wool, wood wool lightweight building boards or upgraded insulation. The mineral wool is made of the natural materials diabas and dolomite processed in a special technique. The advantages are stability of thickness, heat and noise insulation.
 
3-pane-glazing
 
Most of the energy in a house gets lost through the windows. That is why the VARIO-HAUS standard for windows is a 3-pane-insulation-glazing for optimum heat insulation. The result is a thermal transmittance value which is only 15 percent of an ordinary window pane. The almost air-tight joints and the special glass are also responsible for excellent noise insulation.
 
Wood and natural gypsum
 
On principal VARIO-HAUS uses only natural building material for a healthy and balanced
indoor atmospheric environment. The untreated natural wood as well as the gypsum boards can balance out fluctuations in humidity, regulate them and as a result provide some fresh air. On account of their sorption capacity they absorb the humidity, save it and emit it when the room temperature is dry.
 
Additional energy saving potential
 
There are some more factors that can also help that the residents can live in an optimum indoor temperature and still save on heating energy. For example the location of the house, the wind-tight construction free of thermal bridges and an orientation of the living rooms to the south. Glass surfaces or a winter garden also get more sunshine and heat into the house. Heat storage is also very important and solar collectors are able to be used for hot water and heating. Last but not least: centrally controlled heat-recovery ventilation can also reduce costs of energy substantially.

All homes by VARIO-HAUS are constructed in a highly energy efficient way. As proof customers get their energy pass with all necessary technical data, even before the house is erected (calculated according to the OIB guidelines). For example the energy index (the value for the specific heat demand) in kWh/ per sqm and year. Additionally the hot water demand, the energy demand for the heating system, the total energy demand as well as the average thermal transmittance values of the construction parts and the house are to be found.
