Up to 85 percent of the energy consumed by a household is accounted for by heating and hot water. Therefore a modern heating and hot water system has all the more become important. Saving energy means saving money and at the same time protecting resources and the environment.

Integrated photovoltaic systems - state-of-the art at VARIO-HAUS
VARIO-HAUS prides itself to be an innovative company. This has been proven by the first prefabricated passive house already in the year 2000, VARIO-HAUS del SOLE The concept by the solar expert, architect Mr. Kiraly, was and is to open doors and windows for the sun, the light and the heat.
About ten years later the show house VARIO-HAUS Solair near Vienna was equipped with a complete photovoltaic system. Visitors of the show house park “Blaue Lagune” can check by means of a big board outside the house how much power is produced at the moment, how much power had been produced since the installation and how much money and carbon dioxide had been saved since then.
With the photovoltaic system integrated into the building VARIO-HAUS offers additional benefits to its customers. The system is planned together with the house and cleverly integrated without disturbing the general architectural appearance. Apart from the power generation VARIO-HAUS Solair also offers a real functional benefit. The photovoltaic elements are built into the roof and save so quite a number of roof tiles.
As far as costs are concerned photovoltaic systems become more and more affordable. On the one hand the prices have already gone down quite a lot, on the other hand the market demand is steadily increasing and will support this trend. In Austria things become even more interesting as there are special government grants for photovoltaic systems in prefabricated houses. At the moment the grant comes up to 2,600 Euro per kilowatt is limited with 13,000 Euro for a 5-kW-peak installation.
Towards the end of 2010 VARIO-HAUS has introduced new VARIO-HAUS VISION , positioned as the “active passive house”. The house has a capacious photovoltaic system on the roof which generates approx. 4,500 kWh electric power per year. Two thirds of the output is consumed by a four-person-household, the rest can be fed back in the power network or used for a power charging station for e-mobility cars, bikes or motorcycles.
